Despite the continued sluggish freight rates in the spot market, several shipping companies have recently announced another wave of price increases in April, involving routes such as South America, the Mediterranean, and West Africa, with a maximum increase of US$1,000 per large container.

Recently, MSC announced new FAK rates from all Far East ports (including but not limited to ports in Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia) to the Mediterranean (including the Western Mediterranean, the Eastern Mediterranean, the Adriatic Sea, and North Africa) and the Black Sea ports. Effective from April 1, 2025, but not later than April 14, 2025.

Among them, the maximum increase for small containers is US$400, and the maximum increase for large containers is US$800.

Recently, CMA CGM issued an announcement announcing that from April 1, 2025, new FAK rates will be implemented for all goods shipped from major Asian ports to Mediterranean and North African ports, among which the FAK rate for large containers shipped from Asia to North African ports will increase to US$6,000.
